Acupuncture and Cosmetic Services

What is Acupuncture?

Acupuncture is an ancient form of Chinese medicine. The foundation of this therapy is that your body has a life force called Qi (pronounced Chee) that flows through meridians or pathways in your body. When your Qi encounters a blockage, it may affect your health, and acupuncture works towards relieving or removing these blockages.

Treatment usually involves inserting thin, metallic, sterile, single-use needles beneath the skin in key areas to allow your Qi to flow correctly. This process is minimally invasive and employs gentle techniques. When done correctly, you will only experience mild, momentary discomfort.

Acupuncture as a Cosmetic Service

To perform cosmetic acupuncture, a certified acupuncturist will insert very thin needles into specific areas of your face. This releases Qi, or energy, and kickstarts the body's natural healing process. This stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, and increases circulation, which helps to reduce wrinkles, puffiness, and give the skin a natural glow.

The number of acupuncture sessions you'll need depends on your individual needs, but you may start to see results after just one session. You may also need to supplement your facial acupuncture with other treatments such as cupping and gua sha. These treatments help to release toxins and promote circulation, giving you a refreshed and rejuvenated look.

Additional Services

Acupuncture offers a variety of modifications and add-ons that can coincide with the acupuncture treatment itself. Some supplemental services can include Gua Sha, Chinese herbal medicine and supplements, and vitamin injections. Because our Acupuncture Physician offers such a wide array of services, we recommend setting up a free consultation with her to find out what treatment plan meets your needs.

Why Acupuncture?

An often overlooked benefit of acupuncture is that it can help you recover from surgery and the side effects of anesthesia, like nausea, more quickly and naturally. Similarly, sometimes acupuncture can be used to prevent the necessity of surgery, which is an invasive process. Finally, if you prefer natural homeopathic healthcare, acupuncture treatments, especially for internal medicine complaints, are paired with Chinese herbal medicine for more effective treatment.

Acupuncture is used worldwide and widely recommended. While it may take a little getting used to at first, there are many benefits to receiving acupuncture treatments.
